eCommerce Hack Day & The NYC Startup Ecosystem

I had the great pleasure of hitting the demo session for e-commerce hack day ny on Sunday.  Anyone who doubts the power and legitimacy of the startup ecosystem in New York City should have checked this event out. A Sunday in August had over 255 attendees, media, a slew of vcs and a ton of great ideas from Hackers that descended from all over the country [and Canada!].

Hack Day was phenomenally organized and executed by Dwolla and Etsy, and hosted at AlleyNYC, an amazing space for early and growth stage companies in mid-town.

I was impressed with the show of force that the new york startup scene is capable of and inspired by the hackers I saw present. Big congrats to everyone involved in what was undeniably a huge success.

  1. Sow a thought and you reap an aciotn; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.Emerson, Ralph WaldoBRAVO to The Lebanon Fire & Rescue.Thank you for being our hero’s, through thick & thin. Please know that You are Loved, Respected, and Prayed for Daily. 2. Nice piece Sachin!I agree but at the same time isn’t that an expectation, hope for a return? This may taint the concept of Kharma by exposing the profitability of it at the very foundations of the concept. Ruin the dream. I’ve sat here and pondered, if I helped someone, did good, and that person in turn had a misconstrued concept of kharma and utilised that good turn into a socially unacceptable act, should I be wondering what I shall receive or do I have the ability to calculate that the deed is indeed good? I often dream that what I’ve done for society may infact show a ROI of an exponential nature. However, it seems we all have a different opinion about what the return should be. This is only after assessment of historicals that I’ve found myself in this position. Let’s hope for those who believe in kharma and continue to do so without the expectation can continue to live happy and naïve. For me, its only recently dawned upon me that reverse kharma was beginning to become an expectation in my mind… And thus… The dream is ruined because then you are faced with loss from deriving hope. Expect nothing, be prepared for anything? Logical loon
